Take a walk, 20-45 minutes in length, through a familiar territory and listen to it. What do you hear? What machines do you encounter, either directly of indirectly? Are there machines you do not hear? What sounds are missing? Describe the sounds briefly; are they loud or soft, high or low, pleasant or unpleasant, distinct of ambient? Why? What makes a similar sound? What is hard to describe with vocabulary you currently have?
