“Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Transnational Migrant Remittances”
RUB Summer School, 23 to 27 September 2024
The summer school was divided in three parts: a preparatory phase (preparatory meeting on June 7th + individual and group work tasks), a 5-day-block-event from September 23th to the 27th (content part divided in 6 blocks + podcast group work phases), follow-up phase (production of group podcasts + meeting on October 18th to present and discuss the podcasts + optional: term paper).
The preparatory meeting on June 7th gave students the opportunity to get to know the participants and topics of the RUBSchool as well as the requirements to successfully complete the block seminar. To this end, the schedule, procedure and organizational matters - e.g. the requirements and expectations for obtaining credit points - of the summer school were presented and discussed. Secondly, students gained an initial insight into the phenomenon of transnational migrant remittances and learn why an interdisciplinary approach is important for understanding the topic. There was also a short lecture on the creation of podcasts, as it was the students' task to record their own podcast in the course of this seminar.
