• "Teaching at the Push of a Button? Better Use Your Head! Experiment with AI, reflect on it, and use it wisely"

      38th round - 2026

In its current round, the 5x5000 E-Learning Competition of the Centre for Teaching and Learning is looking for digital teaching and learning concepts that explore the practical use of AI in higher education. We are looking for ideas that develop new teaching and learning formats, actively engage students, and promote a critical, transparent, and responsible approach to AI. Experimental approaches and pilot projects are explicitly encouraged.

A key aspect is the critical reflection on the use of AI: projects should explore the opportunities, limitations, and potential risks of AI together with students. This reflection can be integrated into a course, an assessment, a feedback format, or a joint evaluation.

The aim is for teachers and students not merely to observe the changes brought about by AI, but actively shape them and develop new didactic approaches. The results, experiences, and materials should be prepared in a way that enables other teachers to make use of these insights and/or materials in their own teaching concepts.

As a part of the competition, we are looking for projects

      ·      that integrate AI purposefully into specific courses,

      ·      that develop subject-specific AI competencies and enable students to use AI critically and thoughtful within their field,

      ·      that document experiences, materials, and insights relating to the use of AI and make them available as transferable examples for other courses.

      Projects may, for example,

      ·      develop and pilot new types of assignments and assessments formats,

      ·      develop and test AI-assisted approaches to learning support or feedback,

      ·      actively involve students in the design of AI applications,

      ·      use AI to improve accessibility and participation in teaching and learning,

      ·      develop guidelines or frameworks for the use of AI in courses.

Do you have an innovative project idea for how AI can enrich teaching and learning in a university context and open up new didactic possibilities?

Let your creativity run free and submit your concept to our 5x5000 E-Learning competition until November 8th, 2026.Convince the student jury and win 5,000 euros for the implementation of your idea.

We look forward to your submission!

      Your 5x5000 team
