Course information – Biophysical Chemistry II (181780 WiSe22/23)

Biophysical techniques introduced in this course:
  • Microcalorimetry in protein characterization
  • Fluorescence-based methods in protein interactions
  • Advanced fluorescence microscopy (FRET, FLIM, FCS, super-resolution, single molecule methods)
  • Fourier transform spectroscopy
  • Attenuated total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy
  • Vibrational spectroscopy in biomolecular solvation
  • Scanning probe microscopy (SPM) in biochemistry

Examination and grade:
The examination has two parts, each accounts for 50% of the overall grade, both have to be passed in order to pass the course: 
  1. Participation in all seminars and presentation about an assigned publication (15 min talk and 10 min questions/discussion) in a seminar. A list of publications related to the course’s topics will be given in Moodle where students can select one available publication for their presentation.
  2. Written examination (60 min, in English).
