Kursinformation

This introductory lecture is aimed at first-year students of Arabic and Islamic Studies and can also be attended by students from all departments. The course provides an overview of the history of West Asia and North Africa since 1500, with overviews of parallel developments in the wider Muslim world. The presentation of key historical events, people, texts and concepts is supplemented by the discussion of relevant concepts from the social sciences and cultural studies.
