Digital media as a unique platform to reach out to the global society have democratized the possibility of worldwide self-expression, education, networking, and political activism regardless of gender, race, or nationality. On the contrary, cases of misinformation and disinformation (Keyword: Fake News Problem), leakages of confidential information (Keyword: Online Privacy), and online harassment which mostly concern young users (keyword: cyberstalking & cyberbullying) change people’s perspective about digital media.

In this seminar, we approach the different ways digital media change and reshape our perspective of privacy. At the same time, we crossmatch the emerging process of Digital Media with the emergence of Modernity in human society, based on the ways these concepts were introduced to and eventually shaped human society. By means of this comparison, we intend to establish a predictive pattern for the ways digital media, as an epitome of modernity in our era, is shaping the aspects of privacy and public interactions in our society.
