This course of lectures, which is entirely given in the form of videos and other material uploaded on Moodle (asynchronic digital format), introduces to central aspects of the art of fiction; for example, types of narration and focalization, modes of presentation (report, description, comment and dialogue), the constitution of characters, story and plot, time and space, themes and values, intertextuality and self-reflexivity, the creation of mystery and suspense. The various choices and techniques available to writers will be illustrated with excerpts from classics of British fiction.
