Ingolf Dalferth is one of Germany's most eminent theologians and philosophers of religion. He stands in the German hermeneutic tradition (e.g. Eberhard Jüngel) as well as the Anglo-Saxon analytic tradition of philosophy. In this seminar we will concentrate on his theological anthropology (that is, the study of the human as it relates to God). Dalferth's work on this theme pervades many of his books from "Der auferweckte Gekreuzigte," "Die Wirklichkeit des Möglichen," "Religiöse Rede von Gott," "Theology and Philosophy," and many others. In this seminar, however, we will focus on his recent publication "Creatures of Possibility" and perform a close-reading of this book over the course of the semester. The seminar will be conducted in English.
