Research Data Management (RDM) is the process of organizing, documenting, storing, sharing, and preserving research data throughout the research lifecycle. RDM is a key component of Open Science. Good RDM practices ensure that research data are:

• securely stored
• shared openly whenever possible
• and reusable by other researchers

In short: Open Science is the overarching goal of making research more transparent and accessible, while RDM is one of the key practices that helps to achieve this goal.
