Preregistration in Practice: Research 1) Unreviewed Preregistration
1. WHERE TO PREREGISTER?
A) Reviewed pre-reg report -> See section "Preregistration in Practice: Research 2) Reviewed Preregistered Reports"
B) Unreviewed pre-reg

2. WHAT SHOULD BE PREREGISTERED?
a) Hypotheses
- Describe Hypotheses (Relationship between Variables)
- If applicable - Describe expected shape of Interactions
- If applicable - Describe predictions for manipulation check, i.e. criteria for success of manipulation
b) Method
Design
- Independent variables, all their levels (Within- or Between participants? / Relationship between variables?)
- Dependent Variables
- Third Variables = Covariates or Moderators
Planned Sample
- Pre-selelction rule (if applicable)
- Where, from whom and how is data collected
- Sample Size (a priori power analysis or Baysian design analysis)
- Data collection termination rule
Exluscion Criteria
- Describe anticipated exclusion criteria (e.g. missing, erroneous, overly consistent responses, failing check-tests; demographic exclusions; Data-based outlier; method-based outlier)
C) Analysis Plan: Confirmatory
- Specify contingencies & assumptions
- Method of correction for multiple tests
- Method of missing data handling
- Reliability criteria for item inclusion in scale
- Anticipated data transformation
- Assumptions of Analyses, plans for alternative/corrected analyses if each assumption is violated
d) Analysis Plan: Exploratory
- "We do not have specific a-priori hypotheses"
