International Summer School "The Global Wine Market – Trends, Challenges and Future Perspectives"

The international Summer School offered by Dr. Britta Niklas and Henrike Roth/Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE) from 14-18th September deals with the Global Wine market. Recent trends, main challenges and future perspectives are discussed with leading international scholars who give online lectures as introduction to topics such as „sustainability in the wine industry“, „Eco-certifications, signaling and wine quality“, „Global wine trade and tariffs“, „Wine tourism and regional development“, „Wine routes, wine festivals and wine marketing“, „Wine tastings and wine ratings“, „Gender and diversity in the wine industry“ and „Changing consumer preferences” (of young generations) for example for natural wines on low/non-alcohol wines etc..

The topics are discussed from an economic perspective and the Summer School is open for 16 students of the BSc Management and Economics who study in the „Profilierungsphase“. At the end of the Summer School students (maybe in teams of two in case of 16 participants, otherwise separately) write (in English) a 10 page written assignment on a selected topic (deadline 13th October) and give a 10 min presentation on 15th October and get 5 ECTs recognized for their studies (as dummy module).

Applications with max. ½ half page motivation and the most recent transcript must be sent via email to britta.niklas@rub.de. Deadline for applications is the 13th August. Selection results will be communicated on 14th August.

The course will take place in Seminar room GD 02/148. The detailed course schedule will be sent to students directly after the selection has taken place, but students should block already 09:30 – 15:30 each day with a lunch and coffee breaks.
