The course "Introductory Labor Economics" deals with the basic theoretical frameworks explaining the functioning of modern labor markets and the interaction between workers, firms and governments. Under the assumption of different market structures it covers how labor markets reach their equilibria and how different policy programs and immigration impact those. Moreover, the theoretical basis and real world implications for a variety of issues, such as human capital accumulation, discrimination, wage inequality as well as different wage and incentive structures, is provided. Participation in this course requires a sound understanding of microeconomic concepts and basic knowledge about statistics and econometrics.
