The default course language is English. We will offer both German and English material to maximize the learning success for all participants.
Numerical analysis deals with the computer-aided approximate solution of complex mathematical problems that have no analytical solution or whose analytical solution is too computationally intensive in practice. In this introductory lecture, we will explore the fundamental concepts of numerical analysis as well as the design and analysis of algorithms for solving problems in analysis and linear algebra using computers. These algorithms are used in advanced numerical methods for solving differential equations in problems from the natural sciences and engineering, as well as in optimization and data processing. This course thus forms the foundation for further lectures in the field of numerical methods, such as the numerical solution of ordinary and partial differential equations, as well as on numerical data science.
Die Numerik beschäftigt sich mit der computergestützten approximativen Lösung komplexer mathematischer Probleme, die keine analytische Lösung besitzen oder deren analytische Lösung in der Praxis zu aufwändig ist. In dieser einführenden Vorlesung beschäftigen wir uns mit den
grundlegenden Konzepten der Numerik sowie mit der Konstruktion und Analyse von Algorithmen, um Problemstellungen aus Analysis und linearer Algebra computergestützt zu lösen. Diese Algorithmen finden ihren Einsatz in fortgeschrittenen numerischen Verfahren zur Lösung von
Differentialgleichungen in Problemen aus den Naturwissenschaft und der Technik sowie in Optimierung und Datenverarbeitung. Sie bildet damit die Grundlage für weitere Vorlesungen im Gebiet der Numerik wie Vorlesungen zur numerischen Lösung von gewöhnlichen und partiellen Differentialgleichungen sowie zur Numerical Data Science.
Im Zuge dieser Veranstaltung kann auch ein Mathematik - Software - Kompetenznachweis (fachspezifische Zugangsvoraussetzung M.Ed.) erworben werden.
