Course description:
Taught in English, this course will present an investigation of the intersection of Christianity and Sexuality from the time of Jesus to the present.
Course requirements
• Active participation in class – this implies regular attendance to pass
• Close reading of all assigned texts; each student is to develop three discussion questions from each text and upload them on Moodle, due 17.00h Wednesday.
• A written, take-home exam to be submitted by June 25, 2026.: You will be given a one-sentence claim about which you will write an argument in support of (500 words) AND an argument against (500 words). Exam will be in English. Use of AI is forbidden.
• A term paper (if applicable, for those wishing full credit): Develop a topic and research question in the course of the semester and discuss your idea with the instructor during his office hours. The paper should be around 20 pages and adhere to the formatting guidelines in the “Leitfaden Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten in der Religionswissenschaft” (most current version).
The term paper must be written in English, but you will be graded only for content, not for language. Submission deadline: October 1, 2026.
