In this interdisciplinary seminar, we will first discuss East Asian contemporary patterns of innovation from the perspective of political economy and business economics. Thereafter, the seminar will turn to visions of the future in 20th and 21st century China, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea as perceived in political science and political history, from the periods of the late monarchies up to the post-WWII states. Moreover, the seminar will give an overview of different disciplinary approaches and methods for the analysis of innovation and visions of the future in economics, political science and history.
