By the end of this course, students will have been introduced to basic methods in the translation of Sanskrit texts, utilizing the excerpts found in Goldman’s Devavāṇīpraveśikā and A. M. Ruppel's Cambridge Introduction to Sanskrit, as well as passages from other Sanskrit readers. Having finished the course, students will also be able to use all major Sanskrit dictionaries, both in print and online, and to successfully transliterate Sanskrit into roman script. As in the first semester, the pace of the course will necessarily be adjusted throughout the semester taking into account students’ needs and abilities.
