Course content: 

  • Introduction to standard numerical procedures and methods for problems in physics. Topics: Discretization, integration, ODE solvers, PDEs with finite differences, Fourier spectral methods
  • Goal: Insight into diverse methods, use of numerical methods for problem solving.
  • The working tool will be Python 3.

Course outline

  • Lectures are scheduled on Mondays 10-11:30 am in room NB 6/99. First lecture: October 7, 2024.
  • We start on the hour
  • The exercise schedule will be decided during the first week
  • There will be no exercises during the first week
  • Active participation in the exercises will contribute to the final evaluation
