Lorentz geometry is the mathematical language of general relativity. Contact topology is the study of global properties of contact manifolds. A connection between the two was suggested by Roger Penrose and his student Robert Low in the 1980s. The purpose of the course will be to give an introduction into both fields, explain the results obtained in this direction so far, and discuss open problems.
