The seminar focuses on gender-specific issues in economics, e.g. the gender pay gap, the gender pension gap, “Ehegattensplitting". The goal is to provide participants with an overview of the empirical literature on gender economics and to introduce them to fundamental quantitative methods for analyzing gender-specific issues in economics. To this end, the seminar is divided into two sections. During the first few weeks, the course takes the form of a lecture series in which basic methods of empirical economics are explained. In the following weeks, students present current research on gender economics issues.
